The duo of Anita Katakkar/perc-harmonium and Oriana Barbato/b-perc mix sounds of Central Asia and Western jazz in a variety of settings with a surfeit of guests. Sitar and tables meld on “Medley-Norwegian Wood” and the melodic “Heliosphere” while “Rain After the Fire” is filled with impressionistic pastels. “Eesha’s Song” mixes busy percussion with some exotic violin while “Thoughts of You” are enhance by percussion and folksy vocals delivered by “Samidha Joglekar.” A dash of rock in 5/4 closes the album with a frantic finish. Lots of rustlings and sonic explorations melding well into a tasty curry.
